Wednesday we traveled from Lebanon to Joplin, the day is gray, cold and overcast.

Rain and storms are in the forecast.

But that's not going to slow us down, we have a full day planned with many stops in 130 miles.

Here we are at the Route 66 museum in Lebanon, MO, very well done museum loaded

with memorabilia. They have a room set up from the Munger Moss Motel using

many of the things from the rooms in the early years.

Another motel, the Rest Haven has stone and brick masonry and in the early

years they had garages between the rooms. 1947 Springield, MO.

This is called the Gay Parita Store, it opened with a station, cafe and 3 cabins.

Later a garage was added. On old 66 in Paris Springs Junction. 1929

Jim with the current owner Gary Turner. He has done alot of renovating on the property

and is loaded with stories.

The Tydol Station with garage, post office and store. Opened in 1920 - not seeing

much action anymore. On old 66 in Spencer.

At the 66 Drive in Theatre, Carthage, MO. Built in 1949 this is the last of six

Drive Ins with 66 in the name, located on 66.

Jasper Co. Courthouse built in 1895.

At Red Oak II, Carthage, MO. This is a 1920's style cottage style Phillips 66

station relocated and restored from the town of Red Oak. The town was the birthplace of Lowell Davis

who purchased all of the buildings. It's a whole story in itself.

Here's Lowell Davis, he was a very gracious host, inviting us into his home

out of the rain and sharing many stories with us.

This was one of the highlights of our day. We had originally bypassed

Red Oak because it was getting late. We decided to turn around after

leaving Carthage and I'm glad we did.

The rain was coming down pretty hard on our way to Joplin.
